Professor Godfred Darko is a distinguished academic and researcher in analytical environmental chemistry, currently serving as a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana. He earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Cape Coast, followed by an M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry from KNUST, and completed his Ph.D. at Rhodes University in South Africa. His research interests include metal bioaccessibility, mercury transport modeling, and pesticide monitoring, contributing significantly to environmental monitoring and remediation efforts across Africa.

His expertise is recognized internationally, and he serves as an associate editor for prestigious journals such as Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (Springer) and Chemistry Africa (Springer). Professor Darko’s contributions to science have been acknowledged with several awards, including the 2016 Best Young African Researcher in Water, Energy, and Environmental Sciences, awarded by the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. He is also a fellow of the prestigious Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
