School of Graduate Studies

The Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies was established in 1974 to coordinate the activities of Departments which offered Postgraduate programmes in the university. The Board was elevated to the status of a school in 2002, following a restructuring by the University Council. The restructuring was to strengthen and position the School to face the challenges of graduate education in the country. The main objective of graduate studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is to train and develop graduates at higher degrees to acquire specialized skills in Science and Technology.

Besides, such graduates would be equipped to provide appropriate research initiative and leadership in industry, commerce and other sectors of the national economy. It also seeks to provide a challenging and supportive environment that brings together modern and advanced postgraduate studies and scholarship/research that equips students to exert leadership in their chosen profession.

In tandem with the objectives of the School, efforts are being made in the Departments and Faculties to develop graduate programmes, which are relevant to the promotion of economic, social, scientific, and technological advancement of Ghana. It is noteworthy that material and human resources are mobilized to ensure maximum utilization of available potential through courses and programmes organized and coordinated by the School of Graduate Studies
