General Admission Requirements

a) Completion of graduate admission application forms with supporting documents

b) A statement of intent, including a brief discussion (not exceeding 1,500 words) of educational goals and career projections. Applicant may also include a copy of previous written scientific work. 

c) International Students whose medium of instruction is other than English must demonstrate adequate level of proficiency in English as a foreign language.  These must enroll in an adequate level of English course offered by the Department of English for at least six (6) months.

d) Unless otherwise stated, all programmes are offered in full-time 

 

Students applying for admission to the MSc or MPhil Biotechnology in the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology should have a minimum of BSc degree (at least second class lower division) in any of the fields listed below:

   i.            Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, Herbal Medicine, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Agricultural Science, Horticultural Science, Forestry, Animal Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Chemical Engineering, Renewable Natural Resources, and related fields

 ii.            Students with little or no background in biological sciences would be expected to take selected undergraduate courses which should include at least two semesters of cell biology, plant and animal physiology, genetics, and biophysics or analytical biochemistry as prerequisites and to remove other deficiencies.
