Prof. Michael Poku-Boansi is an Urban/Transport Planner and Resettlement Specialist currently employed as a Professor in the Department of Planning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. Prof. Poku-Boansi holds a Ph.D. degree in Planning from The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the same university where he obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) Planning. He has over fifteen (15) years’ experience in transport planning, resettlement action plan preparation, socio-economic impact and monitoring studies, project evaluation, and management. Prof. Poku-Boansi has been involved with others in providing consultancy services in the planning and implementation of numerous development projects: socio-economic evaluation, transport feasibility studies, and poverty reduction project.

Prof. Michael Poku-Boansi is an Alumnus of the Rockefeller Foundation Professional Fellowship Programme and a Commonwealth Academic Fellow, tenable at the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Prof. Poku-Boansi has considerable experience in the transport and mining sub-sectors, with emphasis on work carried out in the area of socio-economic monitoring, project impact assessment, involuntary resettlement planning and livelihood re-establishment. This experience has seen him consulting for the World Bank, the Ministry of Railways Development, Urban Roads Department, Newmont Ghana Gold Limited and AngloGold Ashanti. He has also consulted for the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ), Oxfam Ghana, Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), and ACTIONAID Ghana. Prof. Michael Poku-Boansi is a team player and has the ability to clearly identify research problems and conduct robust investigations to generate results that are theoretically sound and highly relevant for policy makers and practitioners. Prof. Michael Poku-Boansi has an excellent interpersonal skill and gets on very well with his peers and colleagues. He also has extensive knowledge and analytical skills in development issues. Prof. Michael Poku-Boansi is a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Planners (FGIP).
