Deputy Director's Profile

 

 

Michael Poku-Boansi is a Professor in the Department of Planning, College of Art and Built Environment, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi – Ghana. He holds B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Planning from the KNUST, Kumasi - Ghana. He has over 12 years of teaching, research and consultancy experience in areas of urban/land use planning, transportation planning, resettlement planning and urban studies. Professor Poku-Boansi is a Fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation Professional Fellowship Programme and a Commonwealth Academic Fellow. He has several peer-reviewed research articles published in reputable international journals (Michael Poku-Boansi - ‪Google Scholar).

Professor Poku-Boansi has considerable institutional management, board room, chairmanship and membership experiences of high-profile Boards and Committees including: member, Academic Board, KNUST; member, College of Art and Built Environment Board, member, College of Art and Built Environment Appointments and Promotion Sub-Committee; Department of Planning Examinations Officer; among others. Professor Poku-Boansi is also the KNUST Representative on the Academic Board of the Institute of Development and Technology Management, Cape Coast. He has also served on several committees at local, national and international levels. Prof. Poku-Boansi has extensive knowledge and analytical skills in development issues and is a Fellow of the Ghana Institute of Planners (FGIP).

Before his appointment, Professor Poku-Boansi was the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and the Head of the Department of Planning.
